Dear TwinkleGrammers,
A different season. A different kind of TwinkleGram.
October. Fall. Color. Vigor.
Change.
Goodbye to green; hello to assured and upcoming white, should you live in "those types" of areas, as do I. But first, OH! The COLOR! And then. Emptied branches carve patterns in the sky as dusk settles itself into pitch black before six p.m..
"Goodbye."
Reminders of change: changing seasons, changing lives, changing faces. Vigorous relationships soon to be separated by thousands of miles. I am reminded of this today, this very day - as I hugged my long-time friend goodbye. Changing states. Racing hearts, streaming tears. HUGSHUGSHUGS. A move. "Those types" of changes that, ready or not, permeate our lives.. Some sneaking up on us, others arriving as surprising gusts of radical wallops to the heart, mind, neighborhood.
"Hello."
New friends and neighbors. New season. New love.
Neighborhoods. Homes. Places of respite and goodbyes and hellos. Seasons of the cacophony of children's voices racing between yards. Seasons of "sudden" high school graduations at the end of spring, which follows winter, which will seemingly be gone before we can barely rake our leaves, bat an eye.
"Hello."
"Goodbye."
"Hello."
"Goodbye."
Temperatures ready or not - doing their thing. Hearts, ready or not, finding their way in and out of changing and brightening light, shifting shadows. Circling sun streaming rainbows through prisms strung in kitchen windows which summer's high-noon blaze could not find.
Color bursting into our homes during the whitest, bleakest of seasons. Ah.
Color, vigor, fall, October. Nostalgia.
Nostalgia. Reminding me of all that blesses. A God Whose PRESENCE is constant.
Thank You. Thank You. Thank You, God.
Peace and grins until I write again,
Charlene xo
PS The last week in October I shall be embarking on an "On The Way to Partonville Mini Tour" which was inspired by my nostalgia. It is my personal pilgrimage of thanksgiving in, through and around the Real Towns of those Real Dear Folks who have gone before me whose mighty presence in my life inspired the Dearest Dorothy books. I shall be circling the squares, crying my tears, vigorously watching the remaining clings of color and, in between, speaking my passions and signing books at the following places:
